Aluminium Bathroom Doors for Oman & the UAE

Bathroom doors face steam, splashes and cleaning products every day, which is why timber doors so often swell and fail in Gulf homes. Alminyar supplies and installs moisture-resistant aluminium and tempered glass bathroom doors for villas, apartments and hotels in Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the GCC.

Why aluminium bathroom doors

A bathroom is the harshest environment inside a home. Hot showers create steam, floors are mopped daily, and in coastal cities such as Muscat, Sohar, Dubai and Abu Dhabi the ambient humidity is high for much of the year. Timber and MDF doors absorb that moisture at their edges and bottom, which leads to swelling, peeling finishes and doors that no longer close.

Aluminium and glass doors avoid the problem at its source:

  • The frame does not absorb water. A 6063-T5 aluminium frame with a powder-coated or anodised finish stays dimensionally stable in humid rooms.
  • Tempered safety glass. All our bathroom doors use tempered glass – 8 mm on most models and 10 mm on the 60 – which is strong and, if it ever breaks, breaks into small blunt pieces.
  • Easy to clean. Smooth aluminium and glass surfaces wipe clean and do not harbour mould in joints the way timber can.
  • Light and space. Frosted, clear or tinted glass lets daylight through while maintaining privacy, which helps small en-suites feel larger.

The result is a door that keeps its appearance and operation in wet areas for the long term.

Which one suits your bathroom?

  • TL8 – slim 45 mm frame with Oak and Walnut wood-grain options; ideal for villa and apartment bathrooms.
  • 45 – a heavier 1.6–2.0 mm wall for larger bathroom openings.
  • 55 – the heaviest wall in the range at 2.5 mm, suited to premium wet rooms, hotel bathrooms and commercial facilities.
  • 55 Hidden Frame – a seamless, near-frameless look with concealed hinges, in frosted or clear glass.
  • 60 – a substantial 60 mm frame, 10 mm glass and heavy-duty hinges for luxury villa bathrooms, with frosted, clear and tinted glass options.

How to choose a bathroom door

A few questions narrow the choice quickly.

  1. Privacy level. For a main bathroom or guest toilet, frosted glass gives full privacy while letting light through. Clear or tinted glass suits en-suites where the bathroom is part of the master bedroom design. The 55 Hidden Frame offers frosted and clear glass; the 60 adds tinted.
  2. Opening size. For standard bathroom openings, the TL8 or 45 are well proportioned. For taller or wider openings, choose a heavier profile such as the 45, 55 or 60, which have thicker walls to carry larger glass leaves.
  3. Frame style. A visible slim frame (TL8, 45) gives a defined, contemporary outline; the 55 Hidden Frame blends into the wall; the 60 gives a more substantial architectural presence.
  4. Finish. Coordinate with taps and fittings: Chrome is available on the 55 Hidden Frame and the 60, which also offers Champagne Gold; Black, White and Grey suit most schemes; Oak and Walnut wood grain (TL8) and Walnut (45) bring warmth.
  5. Use. Hotel and commercial washrooms see far heavier traffic, so the 55 with its 2.5 mm wall is the robust option.
  6. Swing direction. Check that the door will not clash with a basin, WC or shower screen, and consider outward opening for small rooms.

Humidity, ventilation and coastal homes

An aluminium door handles moisture well, but the bathroom around it still matters.

  • Ventilation. An extract fan that runs during and after showers removes steam before it condenses on walls, ceilings and the door itself. This protects every finish in the room, not just the door.
  • Door gap. A small gap under the door, or a transfer grille, allows replacement air to enter when the extract fan runs. Agree the bottom clearance with the installer, taking the final floor finish and any threshold into account.
  • Coastal humidity. In seafront villas and apartments in Muscat, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, salt-laden air can reach bathrooms through open windows. Wiping frames regularly with fresh water keeps powder-coated and anodised finishes looking new.
  • Water on the floor. Bathroom doors should not stand in water. Floor falls should lead water to the drain, away from the door line, and a shower enclosure should keep most splashing inside the shower zone.
  • Air conditioning. The temperature difference between an air-conditioned bedroom and a hot, steamy bathroom can cause condensation on glass. Good ventilation reduces this, and it simply wipes off aluminium and glass without damage.

Installation and care

Installation. Bathroom doors are fitted after wall tiling or cladding and before the final silicone and accessories. Alminyar measures each opening on site, so the frame suits the actual tiled reveal, and our installers fix the frame plumb and square, seal the junction with the wall, and adjust the hinges so the door closes quietly with even gaps. For the 55 Hidden Frame door, the frame is coordinated with the wall finish so the door sits flush.

Care.

  • Clean frames with a soft cloth, water and a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach, descalers and abrasive pads on the aluminium finish, and rinse off any cleaning product that splashes onto the frame.
  • Clean glass with a standard glass cleaner; in hard-water areas, wipe off water spots regularly so they do not build up.
  • Check hinge screws and closing alignment once a year, particularly on heavier glass doors such as the 60.
  • Keep the floor below the door dry and the extract fan in good working order.

With this simple routine, an aluminium bathroom door keeps both its finish and its smooth operation for many years.

Frequently asked questions

Are aluminium bathroom doors waterproof?

The aluminium frame and tempered glass do not absorb water, so they do not swell or rot in a humid bathroom the way timber or MDF can. They are moisture-resistant rather than designed to stand in water, so good floor falls and ventilation are still important.

Is glass safe for a bathroom door?

Our bathroom doors use tempered safety glass: 8 mm on the TL8, 45, 55 and 55 Hidden Frame, and 10 mm on the 60. Tempered glass is much stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into small blunt pieces if it does break.

Can I have privacy with a glass bathroom door?

Yes. Frosted glass lets light through while blocking the view, and it is the usual choice for main and guest bathrooms. The 55 Hidden Frame offers frosted and clear glass, and the 60 offers frosted, clear and tinted.

Which aluminium bathroom door is best for a hotel?

For hotel bathrooms and commercial washrooms, the 55 bathroom swing door is the robust choice, with the heaviest wall in our bathroom range at 2.5 mm, a 55 mm frame and 8 mm tempered glass.

How do I clean an aluminium bathroom door?

Use a soft cloth, water and a mild pH-neutral detergent on the frame, and a standard glass cleaner on the glass. Avoid bleach, descalers and abrasive pads on the aluminium, and wipe off water spots regularly in hard-water areas.

What affects the cost of a bathroom door?

The system and frame style (visible or hidden), opening size, glass thickness and type (clear, frosted or tinted), hardware, finish and the number of doors. Hidden-frame and heavier 60 doors generally sit at the higher end.
